About Us

For world class live music, New Orleans inspired cooking, and that laid back Big Easy vibe, there's only one place in Washington DC to go. Located at 2519 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, just steps from the Foggy Bottom metro, Bayou brings together the award winning cuisine of executive chef Rusty Holman, hand crafted New Orleans cocktails, and a rotating line-up of both local and national recording artists. With two funky floors of dining and dancing, Bayou suits any occasion. Whether it's grabbing a quick po'boy at lunch, sitting down to a three course dinner, watching the game with a cold Abita, or grooving the night away in our intimate concert space, Bayou is DC's number one spot to laissez les bons temps rouler.
Chef Bio
North Carolina native Rusty Holman attended San Francisco's internationally renowned California Culinary Academy. Upon graduating, he honed his skills at bay area institutions, Stars and The Black Cat before moving to Spain where he worked as a private chef, continuing to refine his technique and expand his repertoire. For his first sous-chef position, Rusty made for the mountains, cooking French country fare at Cache Cache in Aspen. Returning to North Carolina to serve as sous-chef at Mimosa in Charlotte, it wasn't long before Rusty became the restaurant's executive chef, putting his personal touch on a menu of classic southern cuisine. During the next stage of his culinary evolution, Rusty left the mainland, accepting an executive chef position at the Buccaneer Hotel in St. Croix. He's only been in D.C. for two years now, but Rusty has already earned quite the name for himself, having beat out over one hundred other candidates to be named Eatonville's executive chef, when the local soul food mecca opened its doors early in 2009. With his passion for the food of the American south and fluency in a range of culinary techniques, Chef Rusty Holman looks forward to his new position cooking New Orleans inspired cuisine at Bayou.
